Greetings, and thanks for visiting my blog. First of all, I’d like to introduce myself. I’m Clive, married with 3 grown up kids. I’m also a full time carer for my wife. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2015, but I know I’ve had this all my life.
In 2016 I was inspired to write a book, which is ironic really, as I’ve never liked writing, lol. It was after my bipolar diagnosis, that I started to think about my life, and certain events which had happened from when I was a boy.
It was at this point I could see the picture of a “jigsaw puzzle” coming together, which is “my life”. I’m now convinced that bipolar disorder runs in my family. So I wrote a memoir about everything that I could remember from when I was around 5 years old. You can check my book out in the “categories” at the top of the page.
Since I was diagnosed, I tried a lot of different meds, but I just couldn’t function on them. I couldn’t get out of bed, so therefore I couldn’t look after my wife, I just had to be on the ball!. I then found a great hobby in “metal detecting”. This has been like therapy for me. I’ve been off the medication ever since.
I’m riding this “bipolar-coaster” without a seatbelt!. It gets a bit bumpy at times, but I found out that I can ride it out, with the help from metal detecting, and what I’m doing now…”writing”. I look at life in a humorous way, I think it’s another way that I manage to keep the depressive side of bipolar at bay. Don’t get me wrong, I do have certain days where I think..”fuck it, what’s the point!”.
I seem to be more hypomanic most of the time, which if your bipolar, is the good side. I’m probably very lucky in that sense, where I seem to be able to dodge the low moods most of the time. I do get certain days where I have “rapid cycles”, where one minute I’m on top of the world, the next I’m in the pits of hell!.
I started this blog, in the hope that I will connect with some like minded people. I want to reach out and say…”your not alone” on this rollercoaster ride called bipolar disorder. If you don’t mind a few swear words, then jump on board, buckle up, and let’s ride it together. Hopefully you’ll have a bit of a laugh on the way, “ LIFES TO SHORT”. 😊👍
Hi Clive! I have published on Amazon also and am a beginner with blogging. Much luck with your book! Toni

Hi Toni. Thanks for getting in touch. You are the first person to comment on my blog 😁 what is your book called, I’ll have a look? I’m trying my hardest to get a few followers on here, and it’s bloody hard isn’t it, lol. It’s early days yet though, as I only set this blog up a few days ago. Good luck with your blogging and book, all the best! Clive 😁👍

I do better when I am depressed or hypomanic. LOL. Joined the Bipolar Facebook group. Can others see what we are discussing though?

Ok great, no one can see what we’re discussing, apart from the members of the group. I thought a few more might have joined by now, but it’s early days 😊👍

Thanks! Such a cool idea. Sometimes I feel like I cannot talk to anyone about what is going on with me. Be nice to have others who struggle.

Exactly Toni, that’s the point of this group, it’s a place to come and chat with like minded people. If you know anyone that you think might like to join, your more than welcome to add them to the group 😊👍

Hi Clive! Your story is so relatable, it’s spooky. I call it riding the tide.. manic & depressive waves. I look forward to more of your posts! – Gma Auburn
